Grand Cru Champagne

Grand Cru is the designation applied to certain villages within Champagne that indicates they are of the highest quality within the region. Whereas in other regions in France, such as Burgundy and Bordeaux, where the classification systems are applied to individual vineyards or estates, in Champagne, the entire village is given Grand Cru status. Throughout Champagne, there are a total of 17 Grand Cru villages within the subregions of the Côte des Blancs, Montagne de Reims, and Vallée de la Marne. If a Champagne is made from fruit sourced solely from Grand Cru villages, it is allowed to have "Grand Cru" on the label.
